The Tax Administrative Coordinator/Business Center Coordinator provides administrative support to the payroll tax administrator and tax manager. In this capacity, this position will primarily be responsible for collecting, organizing and recording non-resident alien tax forms for the payroll tax administrator review to determine the status of tax payment. Responsibilities include verifying and scanning appropriate documents to the Payroll shared drive and ensuring that employees are correctly entered into Tax Navigator system as well as accepting tax forms, ensuring that they are signed and processed correctly.
Additionally, this position will provide coverage for the Brown Business Center, under the direction of the Brown Business Center Manager, providing high level customer service in person and via phone/email. Responsibilities include assisting students, staff, and faculty with the completion of new hire paperwork and updating documentation for work authorization and tax purposes. Verify and scan acceptable I-9 documentation. Provide guidance to employees and students with Workday processes such as updating personal information, entering direct deposit information, expense reimbursements, and onboarding. The Business Center Coordinator will also assist customers filling out online job applications using the Brown University career site and other duties as needed.
The position demands a high degree of courtesy, professionalism and flexibility as well as the ability to quickly shift priorities when necessary. The successful candidate must be able to remember a large amount of information regarding procedures and federal guidelines, as well as have the ability to research questions when more information is needed.
- Associateâ??s Degree and 2 to 3 yearsâ?? related experience or equivalent combination of education & experience
- High level of written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to elicit and communicate information in a clear, informative and concise manner.
- Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize in a pressured environment.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills, plus meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong ability to work with a diverse group of people with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
- Advanced excel skills
- Proficient with database and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with federal work authorization procedures and payroll preferable.
