The tax administrator will research, prepare, file and navigate filings for the entire institution. Position will require a thorough working knowledge of the tax code, filing obligations and be able to make independent decisions of tax withholding utilizing tax code and University policies and procedures.
The tax administrator will be fundamental in maintaining tax compliance for the University through timely and accurately filing of various tax returns.
Duties Include:
1. Review and reconcile employment tax accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual federal, state, city and School district tax returns. Will determine and maintain proper filing frequency for all
Employment related tax-withholding accounts. Accurately and timely file employment related
Will have a thorough working knowledge of the tax withholding obligations and be able to independently complete moderately complex tax returns for various types of employment tax returns.
2. Prepares monthly sales and use tax returns and ensure timely payment of tax withheld and estimated payments. Assist campus with Sales and Use tax questions and maintaining sales tax exemption forms. Maintain Sales and Use tax exemptions in various states and apply for exemption renewals as required. Conduct regular reviews of nexus requirements to determine filing requirements.
3. Communicate with University Departments to gather information required for IRS form 990T.
Assist with preparation of the IRS form 990T. Gather required information from campus to assist with the
Preparation of additional returns such as Excise tax, transient tax, 1042, 1042S
4. Research and make determinations on Universities employment tax obligations for individuals
working at off campus locations. Maintain, register and set up withholding accounts as needed based on employee work locations utilizing established University processes and policies. May manager vendor relationships including but not limited to leading RFP process and service level agreements.
